Penny Meets Design Legend Philip Treacy

"Here is a picture of moi with THE Philip Treacy.  He's the designer who did the hat for Camella Parker-Boles when she married Prince Charles.  He designs for Madonna, Grace Jones - etc.  I found out the night before that he was going to be in Detriot for a lecture at the opening of his exhibit.  Roadtrip!  (My best friend rode shotgun).  That was a combination of Mr Toad's Wild Ride and Lucy and Ethel go to Detroit. I got to talk about making couture hats with him and he gave me pointers on being a new designer. The quality of the picture is as good as it gets.  The batteries in my digital went so this was taken by Cathy on her cell phone."

Penny is a Celebrity Judge

I was the celebrity guest judge for the "Parade of Hats" at the Victory Gallop Kentucky Derby Gala and fund raiser held at the Portage Country Club on May 6th. My pal's name is Tag-A-Long.

Penny presents an amusing and informative talk revealing the origins behind the many “hat-isms” found in our language today.  Discover how much a “10 gallon” hat actually holds.  Why you might be considered “mad as a hatter” or why you might just need to “keep it under your hat”. During the program, volunteers will model both novelty and couture hats depicting the “hat-isms” being discussed. This 30 to 45 minute presentation will surely add to any club or meeting agenda.  For information or bookings, contact Penny via email.
